Bounty Trail received a post-launch patch on 3 September 2026 (Build 25101878), two days after the full Steam release. This is the first full-game hotfix. The changes are accessibility-focused: bug fixes, mouse-only play, and a new Controls tutorial screen attached to the Edward Thorne investigation. What changed in Build 25101878

• Bug fixes. General stability and edge-case fixes that were not detailed individually in the public note.
• Improved mouse controls. You can now play the entire game without touching the keyboard. This addresses a common accessibility request from players who wanted a pure point-and-click experience on PC. Gamepad direct-control was already in the September 1 build; this patch makes mouse a full alternative input method.
• Added Controls tutorial to Edward Thorne Investigation screen. The Edward Thorne introduction sequence — the opening story beat where you learn about the $10,000 loan and your missing partner — now includes an explicit Controls tutorial step. This was likely missing from the launch build if players were getting stuck on the opening interaction.

Why this matters for your hunt

If you started the game and could not figure out how to navigate without a keyboard, the 3 September patch fixes that. The Edward Thorne tutorial addition means first-time players should get a clearer on-ramp to the agency board, the calendar, and the wanted poster system.

For hunters who already completed the intro before 3 September: the new tutorial screen will not re-trigger. It is a one-time first-boot addition, not a repeatable guide.

Controls at a glance

The game now supports two full input methods:

• Mouse only — click-to-go on the trail map, click through dialogue, click to open Inventory and Camp. No keyboard required after this patch.
• Gamepad — direct-control option for controllers, present since the September 1 build.
• Hybrid — mix mouse movement with keyboard for hotkeys if preferred.

Keyboard-only players are not affected; all original keybindings remain.

How to verify your build

Steam does not always surface patch notes automatically. If you want to confirm you are on Build 25101878:

1. Right-click Bounty Trail in your Steam library
2. Select Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files
3. Steam will re-download any mismatched binaries

This also resolves cases where the 3 September patch did not trigger due to a cached Steam state.

Relationship to earlier patches

This patch does not override or roll back the June demo fixes (15 June camp/sleep, 18 June difficulty and animations). Those remain in the full build. The 3 September patch is additive: it adds keyboard-free mouse play and the Edward Thorne tutorial without removing any existing fixes.
