Bounty Trail Guides
From the first wanted poster to the year-end debt.
This hub is the map of every Bounty Trail tutorial on the wiki. The game is a short single-player Wild West RPG from September Games: you run a failing agency in the fall of 1881, chase posters across five territories, and try to clear a $10,000 loan before December 31. If you are new, start with the beginner guide and how to play. If you already died in a DRAW, jump to combat or capture alive. If you are still staring at the wall, open the wanted board and the territories map. A buying take lives on worth buying.
What these guides cover
Bounty Trail is not an action shooter. Developer Henke (Henrik Hermans) built a system-driven loop: click a destination, spend energy, talk to people, watch an Information meter, then choose surrender or a duel. The trail HUD shows Day X / Y, a clock, Energy, Gold, and Information. The agency office shows the calendar date, agency money, player level, XP, and a hunted / caught / killed tally. Those numbers are the whole career. The pages below teach you how to read them instead of treating the map like a sightseeing tour.
Confirmed poster names, payouts, and day clocks are on the wanted board. Sandy Plains, Rainy Plains, Gran Pradera, and two still-unnamed lands are on the territories map. Use the tier list when you are choosing which poster is worth a five-day clock. Use the debt tracker when you are staring at $3,200 on October 8 and wondering whether a $600 Sandy Plains job is greed or math. Use launch notes if you just bought the September 1, 2026 release after playing the June demo.
First week on the trail
- Finish the intro and stand in the office until you can read every line on a poster: payout, day limit, last-seen territory.
- Take an early name you can actually finish. Confirmed posters include Baldheaded Doom in Sandy Plains, Wagon Wheel Joe, Doniphald Suppersby, Harry “Big Head” Bronson, and sightings of El Gato Terrible.
- On the map, click-to-go with mouse or use the gamepad direct-control option Henke added when click-to-go felt clumsy on a stick.
- Ride, Stop, open Inventory, and Camp with Esc. Energy is not flavor text; demo players got stuck when it hit zero and camp options would not select.
- Push Information before you press DRAW. The surrender option is literally labeled Convince Bounty To Surrender with a percent chance.
Capture, combat, and money
Alive captures are the intended skill engine. Steam copy is blunt: you get paid either way, but bringing a bounty in alive earns more experience so you can raise skills before later hunts get mean. The capture-alive guide walks the Information meter, farmer talk, and the surrender roll. The combat guide covers DRAW odds, the extra percent stacked on the duel line, and when you should accept a kill instead of a wipe.
Money is a second clock sitting next to the four-month debt. You earn it from bounties, salvaging loot, and treasures. The money guide is for hunters who keep arriving home with trail gold and no plan for the $10,000. Pair it with the skills tier so you do not dump early XP into a vanity pickup.
Story, demo, and endings
The first-month walkthrough follows the demo promise: Steam’s demo (app 4795170) lets you play the first month of the career. Full release stretches that loop across 30 bounties, five territories, and multiple endings. The endings guide stays spoiler-light: it talks about debt, revenge, and time pressure without inventing cutscene names. If you have not bought the game yet, the worth buying page uses the demo’s 80% Positive sample and the official trailer instead of a fake critic score.
If a page mentions a number, it comes from the store, the developer, or a readable screenshot (HUD labels, wanted posters, encounter percents). When we do not know a territory name, we say so. That is better than filling Sandy Plains with four fake counties.
How to use this hub
Read one guide, then follow the in-body links to the sibling that answers the next question. Same-category pages are meant to bounce: play loop to capture, capture to combat, combat to walkthrough. When you need a ranking instead of a tutorial, leave this hub for the tier list. When you need specs or a save-folder path, use system requirements. Official store and studio links live on the links hub.
Keep the Steam page handy. Languages on the store include English, French, German, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese among seven total. This wiki covers English, French, German, and Japanese. The game itself is single-player with Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, and family sharing on the full build.
Ride out when the poster is honest about the day limit. Come back here when the Information bar is lying to you.
